Mina's Delight Overall Review
We have decided to make the month of June our dives
month. We are going to find little hole
in the wall, off the beaten trail restaurants to review. We have kicked off this month with Mina’s
Delight. Mina’s Delight is a food stand
in Charles Plaza food court. They serve African
cuisine and crepes. On the menu is a
mixture of African entrees, breakfast, savory and dessert crepes. Delight is the perfect word for this food as
each little morsel was absolutely delightful. Just a heads up, but Mina’s is
not the easiest spot to find. Parking is paid and on the street. For those of
you who work in this area, this would be a great place to stop in for lunch,
and for those who do not, but want to drop in anyway, it would be a good spot
to grab lunch on a Saturday. Overall we give Mina’s delight ♪♪♪.

Pecan Waffles
Mina's waffles were light and fluffy with a little crunch. They had a slight tartness that tasted like buttermilk. She sprinkled pecans throughout the batter as well as on top of the waffle. The butter used on the waffle had a hint of salt. They were absolutely delicious!
Chicken Delight Crepe
These crepes were light and crispy. The chicken and veggie filling was flavorful with a spicy kick. The veggies were sweet and fresh. Given a choice of dressings, we chose to have the chef add balsamic vinegar to the crepe and it was a good refreshing choice. The chicken had a wonderful charred flavor.
Peanut Butter Sauce
Here Mina took cubes of beef and sauteed them in a savory tomato infused peanut butter sauce. It sounds crazy but it REALLY did work. The peanut butter sauce was heavy but not too heavy and had a nice spicy taste.
Almond Delight Crepe
This dessert crepe was made with almond butter. It was soft and gummy with a subtle sweetness. The chef used the perfect amount of almond butter so as not to glue your mouth shut. We would like to warn that this is a heavy dessert.
Spicy Ginger Drink
This yummyness in a cup was a complete surprise. It was sweet, spicy, gingery, floraly and WONDERFUL! We commented to each other that this drink feels like it could heal all ailments. This drink had multiple layers of flavor that are sure to please.
Angela's Review
Mina’s Delight is a great name for this little gem. This,
unlike every other restaurant we have ever reviewed, is actually a food stand
located in Charles Plaza, in Downtown, Baltimore. Do not let this little fact
turn you off from eating here though, as it matters not. On the way out the
door, after having had a very filling, very tasty, very affordable lunch, we
commented that Mina could run an actual sit down restaurant if she wanted to
and we would be there to support her. This little spot was very well kept, with
a small screen showcasing Mina’s Delight’s Website on the countertop for all to
see, which I thought a nice touch. You can watch the crepes being made on a
little stove on a countertop, right in front of you, and have your food pretty
much made to order. I greatly enjoyed eating here. The highlight of the meal
was the spicy ginger drink. OMG… call it Nectar of the God’s. It was fabulous,
with a flavor that was light and refreshing while at the same time managing to
be deep and sort of mysterious. It was
sweet, but not in a syrupy way, and spicy with just the right amount of kick.
It also had pieces of fresh ginger and mint floating throughout. I must say
that I really enjoyed Mina’s and will definitely go back.
Over all I give Mina’s Delight ♪♪♪.
Melissa's Review
Mina’s Delight was a great way to kick off our dive
series. This little hole in the wall
served extremely creative and delicious vittles. Meats served with interesting sauce choices
and crepes cooked to perfection made my little heart skip a beat. When you get to Mina’s (which I highly recommend
that you do) make sure you try their Spicy Ginger Drink. Usually Angela raves about the drinks, but
this time I have to weigh in. This non
alcoholic drink was AMAZING. Imagine a
super strong ginger iced tea with bits of ginger and mint. Now imagine
that this drink is spicy hot; it’s like they put jalapenos in it. It sounds crazy but it tastes great. I really liked Mina’s creativity and flavor
choices. She added the unexpected to her
dishes and I love that the chef cooked everything to our specifications. Throughout the cooking process he asked how
spicy we wanted the food and what we wanted to add to our dishes. It reminded me of being in a friend’s kitchen
while they are cooking your meal exactly how you want it. I loved Mina’s Delight and look forward to
the day when Mina graduates to her own sit down restaurant. Overall I give Mina’s Delight ♪♪♪.
